  An elder came to visit with a young man that was tall, good-looking and articulate. He would probably have been very popular at the local HS. He could NOT understand why I was SHOCKED that he was not in the public school system...playing sports!!!

  I told them that I was a pioneer in 11th grade, if I could do it again, I would have been more active in the school.

  I feel most parents are smarter than the dubs because they expose them to sports and social activities with REGULAR fornicators and sinners.

  I wonder how a J-dub with 20 plus years can accept the recycled info. I am forced to question their intelligence and reasoning ability.

  Do you think the Society has spies on sites like this?

  not that any of them would post, but do you think that they have people who they secretly have visit anti-jw sites and forums like this just for the purpose of seeing what people are saying about them and what their current members might stumble upon?.

  if you google jws, the first couple are official, the next two are wikis, then you have an anti-jw site and then there's this one.

  any current or potential member that is looking for more information than is published by the wbts will be directed to these sites.

  Windfall taxes on Oil Companies - for it or against it?

  i'm for it.

  they don't "need" to increase priced due to demand - they just can so they do.

  when prices are at record highs and profits are at record highs....time to tax them for windfall profits i think .

  I must say that I have strong opinions on this subject. The benefits of a free enterprise system is one of the distinguishing factors between socialism and capitalism. Oil companies have a profit margin of about 8.3% (I recently read) That is not significantly different with the typical American company (7.3%).

  Buy oil stocks, use public transportation and stop begging for a socialist society. A windfall tax?? What about the stock holders? Why should they be punished?

  The middle class spends money. Allowing them a tax break, makes them buy things....which helps the economy.

  The large businesses hire people when they are given perks and incentives. People working, helps the economy as well...........

  Socialism means we all drive a new AMC Pacer / Gremlin and have universal healthcare.

  Our CO gave a talk to kids. Stay OUT of school!

  he wanted to talk to the young ones in the congregation.

  the main theme of the talk had to do with avoiding higher education.

  basically the main idea was this: witnesses are losing alot of young people here in the last few years.

  what were your first impressions?

  i found this site through besty (husband) once my faith had crumbled after reading www.jwfacts.com.

  Nobody is talking about the Generation change!!

  every time i have raised the noolite on this, it is met with blank looks and no comment.. on the phone it has been met with silence while they wait to see why i am talking about it.. has anybody else noticed this - it is a trend that less and less witlesses discuss doctrines and teachings when socializing.. could it be that they don't want to acknowledge a creeping disernment that they have been strung along, and so the gibbering buddy can no more be trusted on this claim than all the other failures, or is it that they are afraid of being called apostos?.

  one elderly sister (90) who really thought she would never die, and is now, when i said i was atonished at the recent changes in 1935 annointed, generation and now no book group, just waited at the other end of the phone..

  We never talked about doctrine changes. 1975 was the topic when I was young, but I was told it was made up lies from evil apostates.

  Not sure how they can justify the MAJOR changes that have occurred. The gas, and progressive light is wearing thin on MY GENERATION. I know of several burned out elders in their late-30's that work massive OT hours.

  It's funny (SAD), after making a life of sacrafices for the emperor, you find that he really did not have on any clothes.

  Are we hyper-sensitised to JW changes? Do we exaggerate their importance?

  sometimes i think we lose all perspective at times on here.

  that we are just as prone to over-magnifying any meaning behind relatively minor changes like this in the organisation in the same way jw's are prone to over exaggerate every bit of bad news in the world to mean armageddon is near.. when you sit down in the cold light of day, this change to the bookstudy arrangement for example, is it really that much a big deal?

  i strongly doubt it really, despite initial reactions (including my own).

  No we are not hyper-sensitive to the changes. Remember, the truth NEVER changes. NEW LIGHT never does a 540 degree turn. New light would be applicable toward slight adjustments, not reversals.

  We are on point. The "hens are coming home too roost".

  I was baptized in 1982 as a teenager, so I think these changes are major.

  They are correcting the errors for our replacements.

  Public Talk & Bookstudy Changes - the real reason

  i havn't been able to keep up with all the discussion in this forum as to why the gb has suddenly decided to implement these changes and perhaps someone has mentioned this already, but to me the most obvious reason has nothing to do with control, or money.

  it has everything to do with the serious shortage of qualified brothers who can (or who are willing to) be used.

  i have been involved in the organzation for 40 yrs and i have never seen the level of apathy and disillusionment among those serving in some capacity in this organization.

  when I couldn't stomach the 1914 Generation change.

  I thought that I was the only one that felt this way. When I questioned it, people acted like I was crazy. I am glad to see that others were changed by the 1995 article as well.

  Great point on the dwindling numbers. My best friend stepped down so he could work more OT. I do not attend the meetings, but I love hearing the stories contained in this post.

  i had no doubts at all about the 'truth' untill a friend of mine in the cong' began falling away.

  in trying to help him i had to ask questions and do research and that of course cracked the doors of my mind open for the first time in over thirty years.. years ago, when jwd allowed members to have signatures, i used the following quote from voltaire as mine.

  i still love it.. doubt is uncomfortable, certainty is ridiculous..

  While at Dodger Stadium, an evil apostate had a sign that said "1975......" and mentioned the 1968 magazine. Using the WT to prove the falsehood was unrefutable. This was prior to the generation change in 1995. That was the ultimate, Final Straw.

  gerrit was the keynote speaker.

  this occurred 'immediately after the tribulation of those days' (matthew 24:29), referring to the destruction of babylon the great.

  Wt says in that book that god "may even use antimatter", to destroy people at armageddon.

  This must have a clear and direct, possible relationship to the phasers from that show in the 1960's. The show may have had a definite link to the possibility of signs in the moon and the stars. This was even mentioned in the bible, because the Jewish Nation trekked through the wilderness for 10+ year. (The so-called scholars of this world did not know that the anniversary occurred in a leap year, therefore we arrive at 10 years, not the 40 of worldly theologians)

  Therefore, computers are bad, apostates are evil and the end is close.
